Thankful for The Red Hat Society!

The holidays are here once more. Thanksgiving dinner will be made, pies will be consumed and plans for Christmas will take action. This year, instead of letting these days pass by at the speed of light, take time to think about all that is good in your life, including The Red Hat Society. The Red Hat Society brings so much joy into many womens lives including my very own. Reflect back on all of this past years most cherished memories.

For many women, the Red Hat Society plays a huge role in their everyday lives. Perhaps it's how we met our closest friends, bonded with the women in our family, maybe it's how we learned to thrive with age, or perhaps it's a place where we learned how our skills or talents could best be used. The Red Hat Society is many different things to all of its members, yet we can all agree on the one clear message of the Red Hat Society and that is for Women to encourage fun, friendship, freedom and fulfillment while forming close bonds. Everyday The Red Hat Society members put forth this message and spread their happiness and love all over the world. That's why this Thanksgiving and all the rest to come I will be giving thanks to the Red Hat Society! Thank you to all my fellow Red Hatters for being so fabulous and always staying true to yourselves.

Delicious Four-Layer Pumpkin Cake

This Thanksgiving, make something both delicious and impressive. I have been searching everywhere for a dessert recipe that is exciting, yummy, and stunning. Let me tell you my fellow Red Hat ladies, I found finally found one that is to die for! On holidays, it's always best to make something that is as appealing to the eye as it is to the taste buds. This scrumptious pumpkin cake is sure to do the trick.

Ingredients

1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1 can (15 oz.) pumpkin, divided
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup oil
4 eggs
1-1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice, divided
1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tub (8 oz.) Whipped Topping, thawed
1/4 cup caramel ice cream topping
1/4 cup chopped Pecans

Directions

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BEAT cake mix, 1 cup pumpkin, milk, oil, eggs and 1 tsp. spice in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round pans.

BAKE 28 to 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 min. Remove from pans to wire racks; cool completely.

BEAT cream cheese in medium bowl with mixer until creamy. Add sugar, remaining pumpkin and spice; mix well. Gently stir in COOL WHIP. Cut each cake layer horizontally in half with serrated knife; stack on serving plate, spreading cream cheese filling between layers. (Do not frost top layer.) Drizzle with caramel topping just before serving; top with nuts. Refrigerate leftovers.

This Halloween Season our Red Hat Society Members are encouraged to spread the holiday spirit as much as possible. There are plenty of ways to show your Red Hat Halloween exuberance and the best way is in the form of costume. Start preparing for this Halloween as early as possible so that you have a great costume to wear for all of the Halloween Parties and festivities you are hosting or get invited to.

Creating the perfect Red Hat Halloween can be challenging. We have a few helpful tips to give you. Having a great costume can really improve how much fun you have at events. Bring more life to the parties and get-togethers you attend by making sure you are dressed your best. We feel that the best costume for our Red Hatters this year would be a Mad 'Red' Hatter. It's the perfect excuse to be as crazy and silly as possible this Halloween season. Make sure you have the fanciest and most out of the box Halloween costume you can think of, lots of Bright Red and Rich Purple to ensure you looking stunning as a Mad 'Red' Hatter. Being a Mad Red Hatter is fun and easy. You can find all sorts of Halloween apparel on our Red Hat Society Store website such as our Purple Madhatter Top Hat, or even find something unique in your own closet. You can choose to be a Purple Mad Hatter or a Red Mad Hatter. Either way, you're going to look fabulous and have an insanely good time! Remember, even if you're not one to dress up for Halloween; you can still get as Mad as a Hatter. After all, you are a member of the Red Hat Society and this is the only holiday where anything goes!

Hot Apple Dip, Perfect for an Autumn Gathering!

Autumn is here, the leaves are showing off their vibrant colors and cold weather is upon us. Keep your Red Hat Society ladies comfy and cozy indoors and serve up this tasty Hot Apple Dip at your next Gathering. Any Red Hatter knows that staying out of the cold is easy when you have good food and good company. This recipe is so simple to make and the results are amazing! Treat your friends to the ultimate Hot Apple Dip, and delight in the simple pleasures of fall!

What You'll Need:

- 1 tub (8 oz.) Cream Cheese
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
- 1 apple, chopped, divided
- 1/4 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1 Tbsp. finely chopped Pecan Pieces
- and "Crackers" for dipping!

HEAT oven to 375°F.

MIX cream cheese, sugar and spice in medium bowl until well blended. Stir in half of the apples.

SPREAD into pie plate or small casserole dish. Top with remaining apples, Cheddar and nuts.

BAKE 10 to 12 min. or until heated through. Serve with crackers.

This Dip is absolutely scrumptious! Enjoy Ladies!

September is Fall Hat Month

This September is Fall Hat Month. Show your holiday spirit and don a hat wherever and whenever possible the whole month long. This month, you have an excuse to celebrate everyday. As members of the Red Hat Society, we are more than willing to spread some month long cheer, especially for a month that holds the title for National Fall Hat Month!

Fall is always a special time of year for those of us who love the opportunity to add more fashionable accessories to our outfits. As the days get chillier and that autumn wind starts blowing in, we can finally get out the boots, scarves, jackets, but more importantly the HATS! Make a splendid fashion statement this month by putting on your stylish red hats. During Fall Hat Month, we are encouraged to put aside our thinner summer hats and begin wearing felt or fabric hats. We think our Classic Celeste , is the perfect hat for a day of fall shopping. Throwing a Fall Hat party could also be a great way to kick off the Fall Season as well. Get your fellow Red Hatters in on the fun, purchase a new Fall Red Hat, or bring out an old favorite, as long as it keeps your head warm, we're all for it. Enjoy National Fall Hat Month and always make the most of every moment.

Throw a Red Hat Society Ladies Night In! Plan a night with your closest Red Hat Sisters full of great conversation, beauty rituals, fun, games, laughter and decadent food. Celebrate your friendships, your age, and your whole life with a much needed night of fun and relaxation.

A Red Hat Ladies Night In should always be comfortable yet glamorous. Have everyone show up wearing their most fabulous and fun pajamas. Our Red Hat Society Pajamas are always perfect for this sort of event. Of course a pair of Purple, Red, or Pink PJ's will work just fine too. Throwing a grown up slumber party is the perfect way to get closer to friends and feel good about yourself. Discover news things about friends and relive fond memories. Make sure your Red Hat Sisters don't go hungry. Stock up and have a ton of snacks and sweets on hand. Some traditional Slumber Party foods include popcorn, pizza, chips and dip, veggies and dip, soda, candy and ice cream! Also, plan on activities to keep the night interesting and enjoyable. Rent movies, chick flicks or comedies, the theme is all up to you. Keep the night flowing well with board games. Some games never get old like Pictionary, Clue or The Red Hats Society's Pink Elephants Game! Once the food and games are arranged and ready, you and your best friends can fill in the rest with enlightening conversation, advice, funny stories and laughter. You are going to love your Red Hat Ladies Night In!

Celebrate National 'Picnic' Month!

This August, enjoy the end of summer with a quaint and cozy RHS Picnic. Invite your Red Hat Society Sisters to enjoy a delicious meal outdoors while enjoying a scenic view of a park or even your own backyard. Planning a Picnic is all about convenience, fun and easiness. We’re going to let you know how you can throw an amazingly unforgettable Red Hat Society picnic this summer.

In order to throw the perfect Red Hat Society Picnic, you must first decide on a location. If you’re friends all live near you it might be best to throw it around your hometown at a local park, or in your own backyard if you have great scenery of just think it would be most fun. For friends who live further away, try thinking of a halfway point where you can all meet up to enjoy your RHS summer Picnic together.

Once you have decided on the location, all you need to do is create the menu. Having each friend bring a separate item could be fun if you don’t enjoy cooking. The most common Picnic foods include fried chicken, sandwiches, hot dogs, potato chips, macaroni salad, specialty salads, fruit, cheese, cookies, brownies and of course bottled of wine. If you decide to bring the wine, carefully pack along our Princess Wine Glasses to bring extra Red Hat cheer to your Picnic. If choosing to bring cheeses, don’t forget the Hat Spreaders! Make sure you have a large basket for packing your meal into as well. If you are planning on using a public picnic table or have one of your own you can use a decorative table cloth. If you are planning on eating on the grass, find a comfortable pretty blanket, preferably Red and Purple! Keep the Red Hat fun going with The Red Hat Society’s Pink Elephants Game. Once you have your Red Hat Sisters, the food, wine and games, you’re ready to head outdoors for a true RHS Summer Picnic!

Refreshing Red, Red Wine For Summer!

Hello Ladies,

This summer, serve your Red Hat Sisters a refreshing Red Sangria Punch at your next summer cookout or outdoor event! Here is one delicious Red Sangria Recipe everyone is sure to love! Prep time on this cool summer cocktail- 5 minutes! Gotta love that ladies!

Ingredients:

1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
1 Lemon cut into wedges
1 Orange cut into wedges
1 Lime cut into wedges
2 Tbsp sugar
Splash of orange juice or lemonade
2 Shots of gin or triple sec (optional)
1 Cup of raspberries or strawberries (may use thawed or frozen)
1 Small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
4 Cups ginger ale

Preparation:
Pour wine into a large pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges and pineapple then add sugar, orange juice and gin. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale, berries and ice just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice.

Greetings Fellow Red Hatters!

Did you know that in 1984 President Regan declared July to be National Ice Cream Month, and the 3rd Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day? Regan recognized that Ice Cream was a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by over 90% of the population!

We hope that all the Red Hatters spent the afternoon at the Ice Cream Parlor to escape the July heat, and to celebrate National Ice Cream Day last Sunday! Share your Ice Cream Day Photos, Stories and Recipes on Facebook, Twitter, or right here on the blog with us!

There are so many delicious red ice cream flavors to choose from like strawberry, cherry, cherry cordial, black cherry, raspberry, vanilla with strawberry swirl… but some of the favorite flavors of the Red Hat Ladies on Facebook are Mint Chocolate Chip, Rocky Road, and Chocolate Almond! To give these non-red ice cream flavors a Red Hat Twist, try topping off your sundae with some delicious strawberry syrup, red and purple sprinkles or a juicy cherry! Don’t forget that ice cream sundaes make great desserts for red hat parties all year long!

Have A Red Hat Society Outing At The Baseball Park!

Hey Ladies!

Enjoy America's favorite past time and share in the laughter and love with your fellow Red Hat Sisters this summer. It's baseball season, and that means it's time for you to grab a group of your closest Red Hat Society gals and hit up your local ballpark. Buy the tickets, bring the spending cash and don't forget the camera.

Be sure to come dressed in your ballpark best, sport a Red Sequin Baseball Cap or a Pink Sequin Floral Cap and don't skimp on the bling, a Red Hat Diva dresses up for all occasions. Of course you should represent your team by wearing their apparel, but a Red Hat lady always jazzes it up a bit. Let your local ballpark know that the Red Hat Society supports them by attending a game this season.

The Ballpark can be a nostalgic place for many, full of familiar sights, sounds and smells. The sound of the bat hitting the ball and the cheering fans is intense and exciting! Make sure your group of Red Hat Ladies cheers as loud as possible. Sit back and take in the whole experience from the sight of the beautiful green field under bright lights, to the smells of popcorn, beer and peanuts. Being able to experience a baseball game live with your Red Hat sisters is a wonderful thing!

Hey Red Hat Ladies!

It's Derby time, and that means one thing for us Red Hat Ladies, hat shopping! This Summer, be sure to wear your red hat and dress your best when attending a horse race. This event is a perfect opportunity to spend time having fun and looking fabulous while watching the races with your favorite Red Hat sisters.

The staple of the Derby ensemble is of course the big hat and as we all know, the bigger and flashier the better. The Mimi hat has a very large brim and comes adorned with a large red rose and the Dolly Purple is perfect for the red hatter celebrating her birthday at the derby. After choosing the perfect derby dress, your look can be finished off with red hat necklaces, glamorous red hat earrings, bold bracelets, and unique pins or brooches so that you'll be the main attraction at this years Horse Race

Strawberry Dreamy Cream Cake Recipe

Hey Red Hat Ladies,

Since Spring is here and warm weather is upon us, I wanted to share this fabulous recipe with you. I was browsing through the Red Hat Society Dessert Cookbook "Eat Dessert First!" and found this Strawberry Dreamy Cream Cake recipe by Linda Denny, Queen in Long Beach, Mississippi. This is perfect for a warm sunny tea party and great for celebrating a special Red Hat Society Sister' birthday!

Ingredients

1 Baked Angel Food Cake
2 quarts Fresh Strawberries
1 3.4 Ounce Package Instant Vanilla Pudding
1 20 Ounce Can Crushed Pineapple, Undrained
1 8 Ounce Container Frozen Whipped Topping, Thawed

Directions

Cut the angel food cake into 3 layers. Slice the strawberries and set aside.

In a medium bowl combine the pudding mix with the pineapple. Fold in the whipped topping.

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Cover with one-third of the pineapple mixture and layer with one-third sliced strawberries. Repeat with the remaining two layers. Frost the side of the cake with the remaining pineapple mixture, if desired.

Refrigerate the cake overnight for the flavors to soak in!

Barbie Turns 50!

I have some great news about a very special someone who just turned 50--Barbie! Now, Barbie can wear some fabulous red hats and stylish purple outfits wherever she travels, and whatever parties she attends.

The true fashionista is having her 50th birthday party this year, and as Red Hat Ladies, we know how to celebrate too! Round up your Red Hat Sisters and and throw a birthday party for Barbie, the famous doll that we all grew up loving. Barbie has accomplished a lot in her first 50 years--she has had many professions, represented many countries around the world, and continues to stay as fashionable as ever.

Once you have your party honoring Barbie's accomplishments, be sure to send in some photos of your Barbie bash!
