Red Hat Society Day
Since the official founding of the Red Hat Society in 1998, more than 40,000 chapters have developed internationally. As a result of this groups gain in popularity and recognition, the Queen Mother planned the first Red Hat Society Convention in April of 2002 so that members of the society could dress in red hats and purple outfits and meet and bond with Red Hatters across the globe. Red Hat Society Convention, however, is not the only time or place the Red Hatters across the nation come together to celebrate the wonders of their sisterhood! April 25 is officially known to Red Hatters throughout the world as Red Hat Society Day. This means the Red Hat Society celebrates another fantastic birthday. Usually convention takes place around this time in order for Red Hatters to honor the birthday, but convention isn't the only place where celebration takes place. Chapters across the nation have their own special ways of honoring this important time. Local chapters throw their own teas or parties, and of course always dress in their red hats and purple outfits! This is one date that Red Hatters across the world cherish and appreciate, because it is a reminder of what their organization stands for; approaching their later years with verve, humor, and pizzaz!
